about

This is an odddly specific Jerry album about various experiences he had an influneces and influenzas he was having while driving and to and from certain events. The first track is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera Although "Nessun dorma" has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Jerry popularized the piece beyond the opera world in the 1960s following his recording of it for the album "Rumble Strip Lullaby." This was a response to his awe for Pavarotti, and how amazing he was at times but then how much he hated fellow tenor David Phelps and his associate Bill for his major pantalones adjusment during the climax. The album then follows with an onslaught of Jerry original, including top 40's single "Into Oncoming Traffic."
"Stuck Behind Two Trucks On The Highway" was a response to Jerry being stuck behind two trucks on the highway and literally setting up his recording gear in his sound isolation booth he had on top of his van and recording this sixteen minute dramatic ballad while driving and rubbernecking at the same time,. "Wake the Baby" is a response to ssome horrible rest stop oasis bridge aboev the highway thing that didnt have a sbarros pizzza. The "Rumble Strip Sweetie's" Suite is one of Jerry's most acclaimed sequences of work, as the variations on the main theme throughout bastardize the listener, and make them face themselves, and think.

This Record is also a rare one where Jerry was fueding with Gerald (Jerry's Stupid Brother), so Jerry's long time friend and highly successful session bassist Lamont Garde stepped in to perform on bass here.
