Direct from the original liner notes of the 1972 vinyl LP release of "Jury Does Jerry Duty":
"Hey gang, Jerry hear. Gerald and McGruffins came over last September, to record some covers of some my favorite old tunes from when I was growing up. When. All of a sudden I got a letter in the mail from Richard Nixon saying I had to do jury. Duty. Naturally I went because jury sound like Jerry (which is awesome) but I quickly discovered this was otherwise the case. Some dombo was being convicted of being a murder so I quickly got mad and angry and hated jury duty. So this album is dedicated in the memory of how jury duty sucks, but I. Jerry. am Awesome."
